The Nigerian naira appreciated against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Monday, beginning the new week on a positive note.
Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira strengthened to N1,360.14 per dollar on Monday, compared with N1,365.69 recorded at the close of trading on Friday.
This represents an appreciation of N5.55 against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
Meanwhile, the naira remained stable at N1,430 per dollar at the parallel, or black market, on Monday.
The rate was unchanged from the N1,430 per dollar recorded at the close of trading last week.
CBN data also showed that Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves stood at $52.06 billion as of August 7, 2026.
The latest appreciation comes after the naira depreciated against the dollar across foreign exchange markets on Friday, ending the previous week on a negative note.
