The naira fell to its lowest level in two months on Friday, extending a week-long decline against the US dollar.
Latest figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) show the local currency closed at N1,450.43 per dollar, down from N1,447.83 on Thursday — a day-to-day drop of N2.59.
In the parallel market, the naira maintained its position at N1,475 per dollar, the rate it has traded at since Wednesday.
According to Nigerian Newssphere, the naira only recorded gains on Tuesday throughout the review week. On a week-on-week basis, the currency weakened by N3.68, compared to the N1,446.74 recorded on November 28, 2025.
The depreciation trend comes despite an increase in Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves, which climbed to $45.04 billion as of December 4, 2025.
