The presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed as false a viral social media post alleging that former United States President Donald Trump criticized Nigeria’s handling of its security challenges.
The post, which began trending early Tuesday, claimed Trump described the situation in Nigeria as a “total disaster” and faulted Tinubu for embarking on a state visit to the United Kingdom amid reports of attacks, including suicide bombings in Maiduguri.
It further urged immediate action to protect citizens and tighten border controls, suggesting that the Nigerian leader was neglecting his responsibilities.
Reacting, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, described the claim as entirely false and misleading.
“This post does not exist on any whitehouse.gov platform or any of President Donald Trump’s social media pages. Verify before you post,” he said.
The Presidency also cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, stressing the importance of fact-checking content before sharing on social media
