BREAKING: Soludo sworn in for second term as Anambra governor

Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has taken the oath of allegiance and oath of office, marking the commencement of his second term in office.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, drawing a large crowd of dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.

 

Soludo arrived at the venue at about 11:18 a.m. alongside top government officials, including Vice President Kashim Shettima. Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were also in attendance.

 

Other notable figures present included elder statesman Emeka Anyaoku and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

 

The governor took the oath of allegiance at about 11:50 a.m., followed by the oath of office shortly after. He signed the official documents at 11:55 a.m. in the presence of the state Chief Judge, drawing applause from attendees.

 

Soludo was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, who stood beside him throughout the ceremony.

 

The inauguration signals the start of a new four-year term, expected to run until 2030.
