Barcelona strengthened their grip on the top of the LaLiga table with a convincing 3-0 victory over Mallorca on Saturday, opening a four-point gap over rivals Real Madrid.
Mallorca threatened early through Vedat Muriqi, whose effort narrowly missed the target after striking the side netting. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia was also called into action, denying Jan Virgili to keep the hosts level.
The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Dani Olmo reacted quickest to knock Marcus Rashford’s rebound into the path of Robert Lewandowski, who finished calmly to put Barcelona ahead.
Barcelona doubled their advantage after the break as Lamine Yamal unleashed a powerful strike that beat goalkeeper Leo Roman. Marc Bernal later sealed the win, rounding off a dominant display by the Catalans.
Real Madrid can reduce Barcelona’s lead when they face Valencia away from home on Sunday.
