Senator Ned Nwoko has spoken out in defense of his wife, Laila, amid renewed public scrutiny and social media conversations surrounding his failed marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
In a lengthy statement shared on his X handle on Wednesday, Nwoko described Laila as a woman of “quiet strength” who prefers a private and peaceful life away from the noise of social media.
He noted that although unkind words and false assumptions have been circulated online about her, they do not reflect her true character.
“Laila is not someone who lives on social media. She has never been the type to chase attention or respond to every passing opinion,” he wrote. “She is thoughtful, patient, respectful, and incredibly caring. She gives without expecting anything in return.”
Nwoko added that his wife’s calm nature and maturity often go unnoticed because she does not publicly display her life or engage in online disputes. According to him, she has consistently chosen authenticity over public validation.
“It can be hard to watch unkind words or false assumptions being thrown around online… But I know her heart. I know the honesty she carries and the way she handles even difficult moments with calm dignity,” he stated.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to standing by her, saying he would speak for and protect her whenever necessary.
“As her husband, I will always stand by her. I will protect her name with pride,” he emphasized, describing Laila as a source of peace, stability, and wisdom in their home.
He also thanked those who had shown compassion and fairness amid the ongoing chatter, noting that their support “brings light into difficult spaces.”
Concluding his message, Nwoko expressed deep admiration for Laila: “You are valued, you are loved, and you are far greater than anything said about you online… I will always stand with you, today and every day.”
The statement comes as discussions around Nwoko’s family continue to trend on social media, especially regarding issues surrounding his failed marriage to Regina Daniels.
