Director of Finance, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet has expressed optimism that the ongoing NiMet Amendment Act will strengthen the agency on its role to ensure safety across critical sectors in Nigeria particularly in the aviation industry.
DAILY POST reports that the bill, which was sponsored by former Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation Technology, Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade aimed at repositioning the agency for optimal service delivery.
During a public hearing on the bill on Tuesday held at the National Assembly, The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation Technology, Tajudeen Abisodun, stated that the amendment of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Establishment) Act No. 29 of 2022 was critical to enhance the performance of the agency and enable it meets its mandate.
Reacting, Dr Akogi in a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, expressed confidence that the amendment will be a remarkable achievement for the agency.
He wrote, “Yesterday at the National Assembly 22nd July, 2025., it was a privilege for me to be part of history at the Public hearing of the amendment of NiMet Act which has passed the second reading.
This will be a remarkable achievement so far in Nimet and I am happy to not just be a part but very active part of it. God willing, it will end in Praise.
“Thanks to my Honourable Minister Festus Keyamo SAN for the opportunity given to me to serve my nation and my DG/CEO Prof. Charles Anosike for believing in me thus far.
“This will not be complete if I don’t mention Hon Abiodun Akinlade who sponsored the bill and Hon Tajudeen Abisodun Ojelade who chaired the public hearing. I give God all the glory”.
