Nigerian music star Davido has claimed that he is the only child of a billionaire to have independently built both a successful career and personal fortune.
Davido, the son of Nigerian billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, made the remark during a recent episode of the Vibe Podcast, where he reflected on his journey in the music industry.
The award-winning singer said his wealthy background initially worked against him because many Africans are more inclined to celebrate “grass-to-grace” success stories.
According to him, despite the criticism and opposition he faced at the start of his career, he was able to establish his own legacy through music and business.
“Not to brag, but which other billionaire’s child do you know, not just in Africa but in the world, that has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money?
“You can’t name one apart from me,” Davido said.
