I won’t dignify the devil—Pastor Chris Okafor addresses marriage scandal with Doris Ogala saga

Founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, has spoken publicly for the first time amid the controversy surrounding his alleged relationship with Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.

Ogala was arrested at her residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after accusing the cleric of failing to fulfill an alleged promise of marriage.

Addressing congregants during his marriage thanksgiving service on Sunday, Okafor, in a video that has since gone viral, dismissed the allegations and insisted that anyone making claims must substantiate them.

The pastor said he chose to remain silent initially, claiming God instructed him not to respond publicly. He added that although it was painful to be misrepresented, he would allow due process to take its course.

According to him, the matter is already before the authorities, making it inappropriate for him to speak openly on the issue.

“There is a law in this country that works, and we are following it. Whatever anyone says, they must prove it in a court of law. We are not quiet; we are praying and following the right process. The truth will come out.

“We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. That would amount to glorifying the devil. Hear me and hear me well: since I grew up, I have known this man (God) as my father, and nobody can tell me anything about him. I have known him as my father, and I know who he is. No outsider knows my father more than I do.

“Why we do what we do, in the place of prayer, study, wait on the Lord, and go by the instructions of what he says we should do, there’s a law in this country that works, and we follow the law. And the law is taking its course. Everything you say to anybody, you must prove it in the law court. So, don’t worry, we are not quiet. We’re praying, and we’re following the mature way we should follow. The truth will come out.

“Because the authorities are in the matter, I cannot say it in public. You will be surprised about the people that are involved. I got reports; you will be surprised about the people that are behind the scene, and you will shout because it’s before the authority. I will not jeopardize the investigation and the court process that has ensued. He that alleged must prove,” he stated.

Okafor further hinted that investigations were ongoing and that those allegedly behind the controversy would eventually be exposed, stressing that he would not jeopardize the investigation or court proceedings.

“He that alleged must prove,” he reiterated.

Nigerian Newssphere recalls that Ogala’s arrest sparked widespread reactions on social media, drawing comments from fans and celebrities alike.

Following her arrest, a popular Nigerian influencer called for her release and threatened to release what he described as incriminating evidence against Pastor Okafor and some of his associates.
