Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over Iran in an international friendly held in Antalya, Turkey, on Friday afternoon.
Head coach Eric Chelle fielded a strong lineup despite the absence of key players Victor Osimhen and Stanley Nwabali, a decision that proved effective early in the game.
Moses Simon gave Nigeria the lead in the sixth minute, finishing off an impressive solo run with a clinical strike. The Super Eagles extended their advantage in the second half when Akor Adams found the back of the net following a well-worked move involving Ademola Lookman.
Iran responded through Mehdi Taremi, who scored to reduce the deficit, but Nigeria held on to claim the win.
The encounter formed part of a four-nation invitational tournament featuring Nigeria, Iran, Jordan, and Costa Rica. The Super Eagles will return to action on Tuesday in another friendly against Jordan.
