Less than 24 hours after being sworn in for a second term, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered all political appointees to immediately hand over their responsibilities.
The directive was contained in an official circular dated March 18, 2026, issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The notice instructed affected appointees to transfer their duties to permanent secretaries or, where unavailable, the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
According to the memo, the handover process must be completed before the close of work on the same day, pending the formation of a new cabinet.
“I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servant in the various MDAs on or before the close of work today… until a new cabinet is constituted,” the statement read.
The government also directed all members of the outgoing cabinet to meet with the governor on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the ANSEC Chambers.
The circular was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Nwabufor Nwankwo.
The move effectively dissolves the current cabinet and signals the start of a new administrative phase as Governor Soludo prepares to appoint a fresh executive team for his second term.
