God’ll punish those behind insecurity, bloodbath in Nigeria – Sheikh Gumi

A controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, on Thursday offered a prayer targeting individuals responsible for the widespread insecurity and bloodshed in Nigeria.

Gumi said he prayed that God’s power would expose all those—whether citizens or foreigners—who benefit from or contribute to the country’s insecurity, adding that divine punishment should fall on them without harming innocent people.

In a Facebook post, he wrote:

“My prayer today: Ya Allah! Whoever initiated or is behind this insecurity and bloodbath in Nigeria, whether foreign or citizen, or has any benefit, material or otherwise, or is even happy that people are being killed, or willingly did nothing to stop it, may by Your divine power be exposed and Your anger poured upon them and punished immediately without harm to the innocent. Amin.”

His remarks come amid a renewed wave of abductions across the country.

Meanwhile, there have call for Gumi’s arrest in the past weeks over his defence for bandits.

Last month, armed bandits attacked Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, in the Eruku area of Kwara State, kidnapping several worshippers. A total of 38 victims were later freed.

Similarly, 10 residents of Biresawa and Tsundu communities in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State were abducted last week but have since been rescued by troops of Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
