The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Announcing the results, the AMAC Collation Officer, Andrew Abue, confirmed that Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman, secured 40,295 votes out of the 62,861 valid votes cast in the election, emerging with the highest number of votes.
According to the final tally, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 3,398 votes.
INEC disclosed that a total of 65,197 votes were cast in the election, with 62,861 counted as valid votes and 2,336 recorded as rejected ballots.
