British broadcaster Piers Morgan has criticized Mikel Arteta for substituting Eberechi Eze during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in their Premier League clash on Sunday.
The match at the Etihad Stadium saw Erling Haaland net the decisive goal in the second half to seal victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Arteta, however, drew criticism after replacing Eze—widely regarded as Arsenal’s standout performer—with Leandro Trossard in the 75th minute.
Reacting on X, Morgan questioned the decision, writing, “Eze off???? That’s ridiculous; he’s been our best player.”
The result leaves Arsenal three points behind Manchester City in the league standings, although the reigning champions still have a game in hand.
