Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has urged the Nigerian government to pass through the effort used to entice Igbo youths to join the Nigerian army and the government’s institutions such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In a post on X Sunday, Ejimakor alleged that Igbo youths continue to face systemic exclusion from key federal institutions in Nigeria.
He stressed that efforts to encourage reluctant Igbo youths to join the Nigerian Army should be extended to agencies, key federal agencies, which he claimed have “hardly recruited Igbos since the end of the war in 1970.”
He further referenced historical political tensions, asserting that “a government was violently overthrown in 1975 for appointing an Igbo as NNPC GM,” and added that “Igbos have institutional memory of the official redlines drawn against them in Nigeria.”
