Premier League champions Manchester City secured a 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, with manager Pep Guardiola reaching a historic milestone.
A second-half strike from Erling Haaland sealed the win for City at the Etihad Stadium, earning the hosts all three points against the Gunners.
According to Opta, the result means Guardiola has now won all four of his Premier League matches against teams starting the day top of the table while his side were in second place. The achievement puts him level with former Alex Ferguson for the most such victories in the competition’s history.
City, who remain in pursuit of the league leaders managed by Mikel Arteta, are now three points behind Arsenal with a game in hand. Guardiola’s men will look to build on the momentum when they face Burnley in their next league fixture on Wednesday.
