The Nigerian Naira continued its upward trend against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday, maintaining a modest appreciation.
Data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the Naira strengthened to N1,356.16 per dollar, compared to N1,356.89 recorded on Monday. This reflects a slight day-on-day gain of N0.73 for the local currency.
However, activity at the parallel market showed no movement, with the Naira holding steady at N1,410 per dollar, unchanged from the previous day’s rate.
Reports indicate that over the past two days, the Naira has posted marginal gains against the dollar, signaling a gradual recovery in the official market.
The appreciation comes amid a decline in Nigeria’s external reserves, which fell to $48.72 billion as of April 13, 2026, down from $48.81 billion recorded over the weekend.
