The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and several other filling stations have increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
According to a DAILY POST correspondent who monitored NNPCL retail outlets across Abuja on Tuesday, the price of petrol has risen to N960 per liter, up from N875 per liter sold on Monday.
The adjustment represents an N85 increase per liter by the state-owned oil company.
The new pricing has already taken effect at NNPCL stations along Kubwa Expressway, in Gwarimpa, Wuse Zone 6, Zone 4, and other parts of the capital city.
Other marketers have also followed suit. Empire and Ranoil Sharon filling stations have adjusted their pump prices to between N960 and N980 per liter.
Meanwhile, an outlet belonging to MRS Oil Nigeria Plc along Kubwa Expressway had yet to begin fuel sales as of the time of filing this report. However, a manager at one of MRS’s stations in Abuja, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DAILY POST that the company would review its pump price upward following a gantry price increase by Dangote Refinery on Monday.
Recall that Nigerian Newssphere reports that fuel prices were expected to rise nationwide after Dangote Refinery increased its gantry price, citing a surge in global crude oil prices triggered by escalating hostilities in the Middle East.
Both the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria confirmed that a fuel price hike would take effect from Tuesday.
Recall that Dangote Refinery raised its gantry petrol price to N874 per liter on Monday.
