Court grants Miyetti Allah President Bodejo N2bn bail

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, in the sum of N2 billion over an alleged $2.63 million money laundering case.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, who delivered the ruling on Monday after hearing Bodejo’s bail application, held that the offences brought against the defendant are bailable and that the court had the discretion to grant him bail.

The court ordered Bodejo to produce two sureties, each valued at N2 billion.

Justice Ekwo ruled that one of the sureties must be an Abuja resident with evidence of three years’ tax clearance, while the second must own landed property worth N2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As part of the bail conditions, the Miyetti Allah president was directed to surrender his international passport to the court registrar. He was also barred from travelling outside Nigeria without the court’s approval.

“The offence with which the defendant was charged is bailable, and the court has the discretionary power to exercise this in his favour,” Justice Ekwo ruled.

The judge subsequently adjourned the matter until October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
