Saudi Arabian authorities have declared that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026, following the non-sighting of the crescent moon that signals the start of Shawwal.
The update was shared by Haramain Sharifain Info in a post that read:
“BREAKING NEWS: The crescent moon has NOT been sighted in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, Eid Al-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, 20th March 2026.
“May Allāh allow us to utilize the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him, may He accept our siyām, qiyām & a’māl, and may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn.”
In Nigeria, Muslims are still awaiting an official declaration from the Sultanate Council, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, who traditionally confirms the end of Ramadan in the country.
Earlier, Nigerian Government declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
