BREAKING: Fuel price jumps again as NNPCL, other filling stations increase petrol twice in 24 hours

Nigerians are facing increased hardship following two successive petrol price hikes by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other filling stations within a 24-hour period.

A survey conducted by Nigerian Newssphere on Thursday revealed that NNPCL retail outlets adjusted their pump price to N875 per litre, up from N839 announced on Wednesday.

The new price regime has taken effect at several NNPCL filling stations across Abuja, including outlets in Gwarimpa, Kubwa Express, Wuse Zones 4 and 6, as well as other parts of the Federal Capital Territory.

A filling station attendant, who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the latest adjustment began on Thursday.

“We were informed last night (Wednesday), but we started selling at N875 per litre on Thursday. Before that, we sold at N839 per litre, which had earlier increased from N815,” she said.

The latest adjustment means NNPCL has increased petrol prices by N60 per litre within 24 hours.

Other marketers have also followed suit. Ranoil, Empire Energy, and several filling stations across the FCT have raised their pump prices to between N899 and N900 per litre.

Meanwhile, MRS filling stations increased their petrol price by N100, selling at N839 per litre. A manager at an MRS outlet in Abuja confirmed to DAILY POST on Thursday that the company’s retail price currently stands at N839 per litre.

The latest price hikes come days after Dangote Refinery and depot owners raised ex-depot petrol prices to above N799 per litre, a move that has triggered widespread increases in retail fuel prices nationwide.
