BREAKING: Fear grips Abuja residents as terrorists plan to bomb Airport, other places

Tension in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, over an alleged plan by Boko Haram and ISWAP to bomb Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The development was contained in a viral internal security memo reportedly circulated within the Nigerian Customs, according to the Associated Press.

Other targeted facilities are the correctional facility in Abuja and a military detention center in neighboring Niger State.

The memo, dated April 13, indicated that the objective of the alleged attacks is to breach secured facilities, free detained insurgents, and inflict damage on critical national infrastructure, particularly aviation assets.

Security analysis in the document drew comparisons with recent coordinated militant attacks in Niger Republic, where air force installations were targeted in cities such as Niamey and Tahoua.

Recall that recently the US embassy announced the closure of its Abuja facility over heightened cases of insecurity, especially in Northern Nigeria.

Earlier in March, ISWAP attacked a military base in Borno, leading to the death of a brigadier general.

Also, a terrorist bomb killed over 50 persons in Borno.

However, the Nigerian military said it has succeeded in the latest onslaught against terrorists.
