Afrobeats star Davido and TikToker Peller have lost a $50,000 and $3,000 bet after Nigeria’s Super Eagles were defeated by Morocco in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night.
The Super Eagles fell 4-2 on penalties to the Atlas Lions after a tense encounter ended goalless following regulation time and extra time.
Hours before kickoff, Davido shared his bet slip on social media, revealing he had staked $50,000 on Nigeria to defeat Morocco. However, the singer’s wager failed after the match was decided by penalties.
Similarly, popular Nigerian TikToker Peller also suffered a loss, crying out after losing a $3,000 bet on Nigeria to beat Morocco within 90 minutes.
Reacting during a livestream on Wednesday night, Peller sarcastically praised the team, saying, “Thank you, Super Eagles, for playing very well. I have lost my $3,000 bet.”
He added that Nigeria had performed better in earlier matches before he decided to place a bet and watch the game, joking that perhaps the team would start winning again if he stopped watching their matches.
