Manchester City reduced the gap on league leaders Arsenal to two points after a convincing 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side had dropped points earlier in the week following a dramatic 3-3 draw against Everton but responded strongly to keep their Premier League title ambitions firmly on track.
Despite dominating possession, City were unable to break the deadlock in the opening half as the match ended goalless before the interval.
The breakthrough eventually came after the restart when Jérémy Doku fired home a curling effort to put the hosts ahead.
Erling Haaland then doubled City’s advantage, bundling the ball over the line to give the champions full control of the contest.
Substitute Omar Marmoush added the third goal late in the game to seal an emphatic victory for Guardiola’s men.
Arsenal, however, will have the opportunity to restore their advantage to five points when they face West Ham
