Former President Goodluck Jonathan has hinted at a possible return to active politics ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Jonathan made the remark on Thursday in Abuja after a group of supporters visited his residence and urged him to contest the next presidential election.
Responding to the calls, the former president said the presidential race was a serious national issue and not something to be taken lightly.
“The presidential race is not a computer game, but I heard you, and I will consult widely. But the most important thing is that young people will have a Nigeria that will plan for our grandchildren,” he said.
The development has further fuelled speculation about Jonathan’s possible participation in the 2027.
Nigerian Newssphere reports that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu had indicated interest to seek re-election under ruling All Progressives Congress.
