Coventry City have become the first Championship side to secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
Frank Lampard’s men confirmed their return to the top flight after 25 years following a 1-1 draw against Blackburn on Friday night.
The hosts had threatened to delay the celebrations when Ryoya Morishita opened the scoring, putting Coventry under pressure.
However, Bobby Thomas delivered a late equalizer, rising to head home from a free kick and earn the crucial point needed to seal promotion.
The achievement marks a remarkable turnaround for the club, which has endured three relegations; 15 permanent managers—including two spells by Mark Robins; and spells across four different home grounds before finally returning to the elite division.
