Palm Sunday Killing in Plateau: Ejimakor Calls for ‘Sovereign Safe Zone’ for Christians

Aloy Ejimakor, legal consultant to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has advocated the establishment of a “sovereign safe zone” for Christians in Nigeria following the reported killings in Jos, Plateau State.

Reacting to the incident, Ejimakor said the violence highlights the need for a lasting solution to recurring attacks on Christians across the country.

“The Palm Sunday massacre of Christians in Jos underscores the urgency of creating a ‘sovereign safe zone’ for Christians in Nigeria,” he said.

He maintained that such a measure would offer a permanent response to what he described as persistent insecurity and violence.

“This is the only permanent and sensible solution to the unbridled carnage that has plagued Nigeria and led to the deaths of thousands of Christians,” he added.

Ejimakor further linked the proposal to longstanding positions by pro-Biafra groups, alleging that the Federal Government had instead chosen to detain IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

“It is on record that this is the solution Biafrans have long suggested, but rather than consider it, the government resorted to rendition and continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” he said.

He also urged the international community to intervene, calling on global leaders to pressure the Nigerian government to release Kanu and pursue what he described as a permanent resolution to the crisis.
