2027: Nigerian Govt working to block my presidential ambition—Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has alleged that the federal government is making deliberate efforts to prevent him from emerging as a candidate in the 2027 general elections.

Obi made the claim during a 60-minute interview on Magic FM in Aba, monitored by Nigerian Newssphere.

The former Anambra State governor described himself as the most qualified among current presidential hopefuls, insisting that the priority of the present administration is to ensure he does not participate in the next election.

“The present government is bent on making sure I am not a candidate for any political party,” he said.

Obi also criticized the Electoral Act signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as “shameful” for allegedly omitting forgery as an offense.

“It is very shameful that the new Electoral Law, assented to by the President, excluded forgery as a crime,” he added.

Speaking further, Obi maintained that Nigeria’s economic challenges and leadership crisis require a leader with strong experience in business and governance.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Newssphere gathered that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and several members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were in Aba to receive him.
