The United States government has confirmed plans to deport 130 Nigerian nationals convicted of various crimes, including advance fee fraud, illegal possession of weapons, drug-related offenses, and assault.
The development was disclosed in a statement and accompanying document published on the official website of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and obtained by TVC News on Friday.
According to the document titled “Worst of the Worst,” the move is part of a broader directive by Donald Trump to intensify the deportation of undocumented immigrants involved in criminal activities.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE),” the statement read.
“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations starting with the worst of the worst, including the illegal aliens you see here.”
The affected individuals were listed across multiple categories in the document, with authorities noting that all had been convicted of serious offenses before being slated for removal from the United States.
The DHS said the deportation exercise forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts targeting non-citizens with criminal records, as immigration authorities continue to prioritize public safety and national security.
