The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Taminu Turaki, the embattled factional chairman, has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the Court of Appeal judgment that nullified the party’s Ibadan convention.
The move comes amid stalled reconciliation efforts between the Makinde-led bloc and the camp associated with the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In its appeal, the Makinde faction is also seeking an injunction to restrain Wike’s group from proceeding with its planned convention.
The development follows recent efforts to resolve internal disputes within the party. Wike had disclosed that he held a private meeting with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in a bid to foster unity among aggrieved members.
However, sources indicated that the talks ended without a breakthrough, as the FCT minister reportedly maintained that the convention should proceed as scheduled.
