US: Iran-linked group hacked FBI Director Kash Patel’s email, other sensitive details

A hacking group believed to be linked to Iran has reportedly compromised the email account of FBI Director Kash Patel, exposing personal photos and sensitive documents online.

According to reports by US media outlets on Friday, including CNN, the breach has been attributed to the Handala Hack Team, a hacktivist group known for supporting Iran.

Sources familiar with the incident told CNN that the leaked emails contain a mix of personal, professional, and travel-related communications dating from 2011 to 2022—prior to Patel’s appointment as FBI director by President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command disclosed that more than 300 American soldiers have been wounded since the outbreak of the Iran conflict on February 28.

Providing an update on Friday, US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins said about 303 personnel have been injured since the launch of Operation Epic Fury.

“The majority of these injuries are minor, and 273 troops have resumed their duties,” Hawkins stated.

He added that the latest figures show 13 soldiers have been killed in the conflict, with seven fatalities recorded in the Gulf region and six in Iraq.
