Popular Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, on Wednesday confronted the Minister of Works, David Umahi, at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command in Abuja.
Sowore shared a video of the incident, alleging that a married woman identified as TracyNither Nicolas Ohiri was unlawfully arrested in Lagos over claims that she “cyberbullied” the minister.
According to the activist, the woman was detained at the FCT command after accusing Umahi of owing her N250 million for more than 12 years. Sowore argued that the matter was civil in nature but was allegedly turned into a criminal case by the police.
He further claimed that while the woman was in detention, police authorities arranged a meeting during which the minister was brought to the command. Sowore alleged that the purpose of the meeting was to intimidate and pressure the woman within the police facility.
However, Sowore said that upon his arrival at the command, the planned interaction was abruptly halted and the minister left the premises visibly upset.
In the video posted online, Sowore is seen challenging Umahi, insisting that the police should not be used to resolve what he described as a private dispute.
