Aloy Ejimakor, legal counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on Nigeria’s leaders who have governed since 2015 to account for what he described as unequal treatment in the handling of security threats.
Ejimakor made the remarks while reacting to recent actions by the United States, which he said addressed issues that should have been resolved years earlier by Nigerian authorities.
In a post on X, the lawyer questioned why successive administrations allegedly showed leniency toward suspected Fulani terrorists while taking a harder line against IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
He also raised concerns about possible ethnic bias, asking whether the differing approaches were influenced by Kanu’s Igbo background.
According to Ejimakor, the situation has left many unresolved questions about fairness and accountability in Nigeria’s security policies.
“Now that America has done what should’ve been done many years ago, those who ruled Nigeria from 2015 to date must explain why they pampered the Fulani terrorists but went after IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who didn’t even qualify,” he wrote. “Is it because they’re Igbo? So many questions.”
He disclosed this as United States lawmaker Riley Moore announced that a bill has been submitted to protect Christians in Nigeria.
