2027: Abia voters, not cabals, will decide state’s political destiny —Wabara

Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara has declared that no individual, group, or political cabal will be allowed to determine the political destiny of Abia State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Wabara made the statement on Friday at a grand civic reception organized by his Ukwa la Ngwa kinsmen in honor of Governor Alex Otti at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba. He stressed that the power to decide who governs Abia in 2027 rests solely with the electorate through the ballot.

His remarks came as stakeholders from the Ukwa la Ngwa nation, which comprises nine local government areas, formally endorsed Governor Otti for a second term and announced a N100 million donation to support the process of securing his nomination.

Reacting to recent threats by a coalition of former Abia governors to block Otti’s second-term bid and hand over the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wabara said the era of imposing leaders on the people had ended.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insisted that leadership must be earned, not manipulated.

“Leadership must be based on competence, credibility, and a proven track record, not imposed through selfish interests and political maneuvering. No cabal will decide Abia’s political destiny,” he said.

Wabara also urged Governor Otti not to be distracted by political pressure, noting that no alliance of “desperate forces” should intimidate him if he chooses to seek re-election in 2027.
