A heavy downpour on Tuesday caused major disruption along the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway in Abuja after parts of the multi-billion naira Kugbo Bus Terminal recently built by Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike were damaged by the storm.
The rainfall tore through sections of the terminal’s roofing, scattering debris onto the highway and obstructing vehicular movement.
The incident led to severe gridlock on the busy corridor linking the Federal Capital Territory to neighboring Nasarawa State, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
Eyewitnesses said several vehicles were struck by falling debris, while residents and passersby rallied to clear the obstruction in a bid to ease the congestion.
The stretch near the Abuja Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center, operated by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, was reportedly the hardest hit.
As of Tuesday evening, traffic remained slow-moving, with motorists advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected area.
