Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has tipped the Gunners to win the UEFA Champions League this season, insisting that no side left in the competition can beat them over two legs.
Merson made the bold prediction after the conclusion of the group stage, which saw Arsenal finish top of their group to secure automatic qualification for the Round of 16.
According to the ex-England international, Arsenal’s consistency and strength make them formidable opponents in knockout ties played over two matches.
“The Premier League may already be wrapped up, but Arsenal could win the Champions League because I don’t see a team that can beat them over two legs,” Merson told Sportskeeda. “The FA Cup is different. You’ve got 90 minutes and then straight to penalties, so anything can happen.”
