British broadcaster Piers Morgan has lauded Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli following Arsenal FC’s 1-0 victory over Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The Gunners secured the win at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, thanks to a stoppage-time strike from Havertz that handed the Premier League leaders a crucial first-leg advantage ahead of next week’s return fixture.
Reacting on his X account after the match, Morgan, a passionate Arsenal supporter, praised both players for their decisive contribution, highlighting Martinelli’s assist and Havertz’s finish.
“Brilliant goal by Arsenal, right at the death… superb assist by Martinelli, superb finish by Havertz,” he wrote.
Arsenal will now shift focus to domestic action, where they face AFC Bournemouth in their next Premier League outing.
