Tragedy has struck the family of Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi following the hospitalization of his sister, Maria, after a car accident in Miami.
According to TouchlineX, citing the Daily Mirror, Maria reportedly lost control of her vehicle after fainting, causing it to crash into a wall. She sustained fractures to her heel and wrist and is also receiving treatment for burns described as difficult to manage.
The 32-year-old designer was later transported to her hometown of Rosario, Argentina, where she is set to begin a rehabilitation program.
The incident has also affected her personal plans, as Maria was scheduled to marry Julian Arellano, a youth coach at Inter Miami, on January 3, 2026. Following the accident, the wedding has been cancelled.
