President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanugu, the appointment requires Senate confirmation under section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2026.
President Tinubu wrote to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday, urging the swift confirmation of Ambassador Yusuf to succeed Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned earlier this week after serving approximately 14 months in the role.
A veteran Nigerian diplomat, Yusuf previously served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
