1. The National Executive Committee, NEC of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP rose from its 102nd meeting on Monday and unanimously agreed to zone the presidential ticket of the party to the south. The decision was part of the recommendation of the National Zoning committee of the party led by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.

2. The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF has warned that Northern Nigeria is being pushed to the wall amid worsening insecurity, poverty, and environmental challenges. The Forum gave the warning during its 78th National Executive Committee meeting held in Kaduna. ACF Chairman, Mamman Osuman said the North could no longer afford to remain silent in the face of escalating crises confronting the region.

3. The National Executive Committee, NEC of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has confirmed Ambassador Umar Damagum as the party’s Substantive National Chairman. In his acceptance speech during the NEC meeting, Damagum thanked other members of the National Working Committee, NWC for making his work easier.

4. Four persons died yesterday, while two were wounded when a trailer conveying cement lost control and fell on a tricycle around the Second Niger Bridge, Asaba, Delta State. Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Delta State Command, Mr Frederick Ogidan, confirmed the accident, blaming it on overspeeding.

5. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 55-year-old suspected drug kingpin, Mohammed Abubakar aka Bello Karama and five members of a syndicate operating at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano who specialise in planting drugs on passengers’ luggages.

6. The Naira on Monday appreciated to N1,540 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,550 per dollar last weekend. However, the Naira depreciated to N1,536.99 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, NFEM.
