Nigerian singer Seun Kuti, the youngest son of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has responded to a viral video of dancer and singer Korra Obidi performing a twerking tribute at his father’s graveside.
Nigerian Newssphere had reported that Korra, during her visit to Nigeria over the weekend, stopped by Fela’s resting place and performed a brief twerk in his honour. Sharing the clip on Instagram, she wrote:
“I gave baba an offering. We visited the grave site of Anikulapo Kuti today, and we all know that one thing Fela loved was a woman with gyrating hips. So I decided to twerk for baba.”
Reacting to the gesture, Seun Kuti expressed appreciation, noting that the act aligned with Fela’s colourful persona and cultural influence.
“You guys know what baba likes but you will never give him what he wants. E go better for you, my sister,” he said.
The video has stirred mixed reactions online, with some social media users criticising the performance as inappropriate, while others defended it as a playful nod to Fela’s flamboyant legacy.
