The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amaewhule made the switch on Friday alongside 15 other lawmakers.
He said their decision was driven by what he described as a “clear division” within the PDP.
The development comes months after heightened political tension in Rivers State, following the crisis that erupted between the state government and the legislature earlier in the year.
