Rivers: ICPC petitioned to investigate how Ibas spent N283.3 billion in six monthsThe Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC has been petitioned to investigate the administration of the former Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas.
The Deji Adeyanju & Partners, in a letter dated September 23 and addressed to the ICPC Chairman, urged the commission to urgently investigate the financial activities of Ibas during his six months tenure.
According to data from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Ibas administration received a total of N283.3 billion from March 18 to September 17 when the emergency rule elapsed.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, Deji claimed that there was “virtually nothing to show” for the fund received.
According to him, “Aside from the cosmetic renovation of the State House of Assembly complex, no project was executed, no accounts were published, and no transparency was offered.
“This is a clear case that demands urgent investigation and accountability as the people of Rivers State deserve to know how their money was spent”.
The Rivers State House of Assembly had resolved to investigate Ibas’s administration.
