The Imo State Police Command has summoned the Chief Executive Officer of TMT Travels & Tours Ltd, Ifeanyi Onukwubiri, for questioning over allegations of visa fraud and obtaining money under false pretence.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the invitation followed an order by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, directing a full investigation into multiple complaints lodged against the travel firm.
According to the statement, at least nine Nigerian passports have so far been recovered from the company as part of the ongoing probe.
The Command appealed for calm, assuring affected individuals that efforts are underway to recover funds paid for visa services and retrieve any remaining documents in the company’s possession. The police also urged the public to exercise caution and conduct due diligence when engaging in visa or travel arrangements.
Further updates on the investigation will be released in due course, the statement added.
The development comes just two days after a report by FIJ detailed how an Enugu-based businessman, Ifeanyichukwu Nwafor, claimed he paid N2 million to TMT Travels & Tours Ltd but did not receive the visa he was promised.
