A disturbing video circulating online has triggered widespread outrage across Nigeria, with many expressing shock over what appears to be an alleged extrajudicial killing involving police officers.
The footage, reportedly linked to operatives from the Effurun Area Command of the Delta State Police Command, shows a man with his hands tied behind his back pleading for his life before being shot. The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was heard insisting on his innocence and begging officers to take him to Sapele, where he claimed he could help identify another ব্যক্তি connected to the case.
The incident, said to have occurred on Monday afternoon in a public setting, has intensified concerns about police conduct, accountability, and the use of force by security agencies. The graphic clip has since gone viral, sparking heated debates on social media over justice and human rights.
Reacting to the development, Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop publicly criticised the Delta State Police Command, alleging a pattern of extrajudicial actions in the state. In a post directed at the police authorities, he called for urgent action and accountability over the incident.
Similarly, human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu urged the Federal Government and relevant authorities to launch a thorough investigation. He described the video as deeply troubling, insisting that the circumstances surrounding the killing raise serious questions about due process and justice.
As reactions continue to pour in, the incident has reignited calls for comprehensive reforms within Nigeria’s policing system, particularly regarding adherence to human rights standards and the rule of law. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
