Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola has reacted as President Bola Tinubu conferred the prestigious national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Gilbert Chagoury.
The conferment was confirmed on Monday through a congratulatory message and a copy of the Instrument of Conferment of National Honour certificate shared on X by billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
In his message, Otedola described the award as a fitting recognition of Chagoury’s visionary leadership and far-reaching contributions to Nigeria’s development. He praised the businessman’s landmark projects and enduring impact on the country.
“Congratulations to my role model, dear friend, and mentor, Ambassador Gilbert Chagoury, on the well-deserved GCON honor conferred by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Otedola wrote.
He added that Chagoury’s life exemplifies discipline, vision, and excellence, noting that iconic developments such as Banana Island and Eko Atlantic City reflect his commitment to job creation and national growth.
According to the Instrument of Conferment of National Honour cited by TVC News, President Tinubu stated that the award was in recognition of Chagoury’s outstanding virtues and his services to Nigeria.
The document, signed by the president, formally grants Chagoury the title, dignity, and privileges associated with the rank of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
