Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bashir Ahmad, may come face-to-face in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The development follows a war of words between the duo on Thursday after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a telephone conversation with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle after ordering Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to unfreeze the state’s account.
Following the conversation, Davido took to his X handle to celebrate the development, saying he “was there live! I witnessed history.”
Reacting to the singer’s post, Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, said he had bookmarked it, apparently suggesting that Davido would return to X to lament the outcome of the governorship election.
Davido subsequently fired back, mocking Ahmad over his performance in the recent APC primary election, where he allegedly secured 16 votes.
The singer also accused the former presidential aide of failing to positively impact his community despite spending eight years in government.
In a follow-up post, Ahmad disclosed that he would arrive in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, August 11, as part of the APC campaign activities.
“I will be in Osogbo from 11th, David,” Ahmad wrote.
The development has raised expectations of a possible face-off between the two, particularly as the governorship campaign enters its final days.
The Osun governorship election has gained momentum, with APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party intensifying their campaigns ahead of the August 15 poll.
With Ahmad set to join the APC campaign in Osogbo from Tuesday and Davido openly backing his uncle, the exchange between the two political actors and the singer could take a new turn in the final days before the election.
