In effort towards repositioning Nigeria’s Postal industry, Nigerian Postal Service(NIPOST), has signed partnership with e-Gate Egypt, Access Solutions, Lleida.net on efficient digital service delivery.
Nigerian Newssphere learnt this at the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) signing ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja.
The partnership is another milestone targeted at achieving a smart, innovative postal services in Nigeria inline with global best practice.
In his remarks at the event, the Post Master General/CEO NIPOST, Dr Ismail Adewusi disclosed that the country is catching up with the rapid technological innovations already existing in Developed Countries.
According to Adewusi, “Considering the crucial role that technology plays in the world as the driving force in the postal sector and as an enabler and driver for better services, a strong technology system must be put in place as an efficient engine of digital economy growth, a fact which has been recognized by the driver of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy of President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
“It is in recognition of this reality that NIPOST Management encourages individual, public, and corporate bodies and organizations to collaborate with her in providing structures towards institutionalizing the culture of excellent services and accountability in all our services to the public.
“The Post continues to serve as an essential instrument of economic and social development in Nigeria, just as the federal government has embarked on a comprehensive reform and unbundling of the postal sector to make it responsive to consumer demands through the provision of high-quality and affordable universal postal services to the citizenry.
“Today’s event is a step forward in NIPOST’s reengineering process toward enhanced corporate excellence. It is also a manifestation of success attained through a dedicated partnership between NIPOST and three partners; e-GATE Egypt on the digital transformation of its last-mile delivery value chain, Access Solution Ltd on the provision of self service kiosks and the third company, Lleida.net on Registered Communication System respectively.
“The competitiveness which exists in the industry today forces us to adopt more business-like and creative approaches in meeting the needs of our customers. Hence, after rigorous deliberation and consultation. NIPOST and e-GATE Egypt developed a fully functional fleet management application called Postagy Nigeria to digitalize and transform NIPOST’s logistics operations and address the issue of last-mile delivery using all types of vehicles”, stated.
He added that, “NIPOST and Registered Communication System developed an application to provide three (3) basic services; (i) registered SMS, (ii) registered email services, and (iii) registered document delivery services. All services are e-products. They have special features like branded in NIPOST name and logo. They would solve the problem of last mile delivery as they are instant delivery. They have audit trail to show the sender, time sent and the recipient, whether open or read. It has a seal, making it good to tender as an exhibit in court of law.
“NIPOST and Access Solution Ltd is to provide self service kiosks to be deployed for non-contact service delivery in our facilities for services like payment gateways, purchase of air tickets etc. The pilot scheme is currently running in our Post Office in Area 10 Abuja”, he said.
Earlier, in his remarks the CEO of e-Gate Egypt, Mr Essam Elsaghir said the partnership is requisite for the full implementation of a digital NIPOST.
In his words, “It is a great opportunity to transform postal services in Nigeria and move the country forward”, he stated.
He further disclosed that the Nigerians should expect revigorated ditigal services from NIPOST.
On his part, the CEO of Access Solutions, Mr Elijah Olarenwaju expressed delight to be part of NIPOST digital transformation.
Similarly, the CEO of Lleida.net in her remarks, Ms Viviana Perez applauded the initiative.
