Former Edo State governor and current senator for Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, is facing a wave of public backlash after a video purportedly showing him giving a woman a foot massage aboard a private jet went viral online.
The clip, which appeared on X on Tuesday, quickly ignited heated debate, with many Nigerians questioning the appropriateness of the scene, especially against the backdrop of the country’s ongoing economic difficulties.
Reports indicate that the woman in the video initially posted the footage on her TikTok account before taking it down, although it had already been widely circulated across various social media platforms.
Commenting on the controversy, activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore linked the incident to Oshiomhole’s previous remarks on economic conditions, accusing the senator of being out of touch with the struggles of ordinary citizens.
In a Facebook post, Sowore said Oshiomhole’s comments about falling food prices reflected a privileged perspective far removed from everyday realities. He argued that someone accustomed to private jet travel could hardly relate to the cost of basic food items or the impact of inflation on the average Nigerian.
Adding to the criticism, popular social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, condemned what he described as the open display of luxury by public office holders. He questioned how a serving senator could afford such an extravagant lifestyle.
As of the time this report was compiled, Senator Oshiomhole has not responded to the video or addressed claims about its authenticity.
