Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the disengagement of 30 special advisers as part of a move to restructure and strengthen the state’s governance framework.
The decision was disclosed on Tuesday by the governor’s chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, who said the action is aimed at revamping the administration and enhancing efficiency in line with the governor’s New Niger agenda.
According to the statement, no details were given regarding fresh appointments or possible reassignments of the affected advisers.
Governor Bago reportedly announced the decision during his maiden State Executive Council meeting with the newly inaugurated commissioners at the Government House in Minna.
Bologi explained that the disengagement was necessary to enable the governor to rejig and reposition the advisory portfolios for improved effectiveness and efficiency.
He added that the governor expressed appreciation to the affected advisers for their sacrifices and contributions to the administration while wishing them success in their future endeavors.
